Home

We had an assignment for class that was described as an "illustrated essay." It needed to be part type, part photos, and part animation. The subject was home and we had to describe what home meant to us and/or where or what we defined as home.

I chose my apartment at school... and tried to describe how messy the place is. My room is often in a state of chaos, but I love all the colors and illustrations and inspirational pieces I have pinned to the walls. Will be adding more to the end and resubmitting... but for now... my home essay.

Droplet on Leaf Animation

Quick study for Handdrawn Animation class - The assignment was to do a droplet falling on a leaf, rolling off, and to watch the leaf react to the weight, the droplet to change shape, etc. At some point (probably next week when I'm done with midterms...) I want to sit down and make it so the second leaf reacts as well! But for now, a droplet of water falling on leaf!

Texturing from SIG Model

This is a project from awhile ago:

I needed to texture a character for a research game testing user sensitivity to varying levels of human motion in video games. The low-poly model had been made, but needed to be fixed up a bit and UV mapped/textured. The UV map had been automatically generated... but needed A LOT of work. This was the end UV layout (just made it symmetrical/overlapping on side to side to save time since the model just needed to be basic and non-distracting). I also put one of the quick texture maps. It just has a flat color - there were a couple of tshirt and pants variations from this one. At some point I would love to go back and play around with the texture since I already have the UV's all laid out!

Sherlock Holmes

This was part of a character assignment. We each came up with a list of a couple of hero and villain combinations. Then we switched. I ended up with a bunch of great options but went with Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty. The assignment was to depict them interacting and recognizable as their characters. We were also supposed to try out a new illustrative style. I didn't do such a good job with that, but I had done that with the NPR assignment, and I was trying to do something with a bit more interesting perspective at least. The original sketch was just focused on the two of them falling - with extreme proportions, angles, etc. But it looked weird without the context of Reichenbach Falls and the distance they had to fall. I still want to clean this up quite a lot, and might try and second version more zoomed in. But for now...
