Drop/Leaf Redux

Finished off and fixed up the droplet of water on a leaf animation. Added some more bending to the tip of the first leaf, made the drop fall faster in the beginning, and completed the action through the droplet falling on the second leaf. Yay :)

Home

We had an assignment for class that was described as an "illustrated essay." It needed to be part type, part photos, and part animation. The subject was home and we had to describe what home meant to us and/or where or what we defined as home.

I chose my apartment at school... and tried to describe how messy the place is. My room is often in a state of chaos, but I love all the colors and illustrations and inspirational pieces I have pinned to the walls. Will be adding more to the end and resubmitting... but for now... my home essay.

Droplet on Leaf Animation

Quick study for Handdrawn Animation class - The assignment was to do a droplet falling on a leaf, rolling off, and to watch the leaf react to the weight, the droplet to change shape, etc. At some point (probably next week when I'm done with midterms...) I want to sit down and make it so the second leaf reacts as well! But for now, a droplet of water falling on leaf!

Finally Back! And Joe Gilland Workshop

Hey all (or at least anybody reading this :) )

Sorry for the delay! After my last final in mid-December, I rushed home for an early flight to India. I had an amazing Holiday break with my grandparents and my aunt (pictures to come shortly), and got back in early January with a few days to spare. After getting over jet lag and the time difference, I quickly packed up and moved back to Philly where I have now begun the second semester of my senior year at UPenn.

I have a lot to show here (and am again, sorry for the delay due to the adjustment period). I have some fun things from the end of last semester, some things from over break, and already a lot of work from this semester!

So the hiatus is over! I'm starting off with an amazing link to an awn.com article by Joseph Gilland. We were amazingly lucky enough that Erinn procured some funding and made it all happen... and got Joe to come to Penn! I attended a 3-workshop in January where he taught all about VFX animation and the importance of forces and feeling over digitization and automation. Here is a link where he talks about his experience: http://www.awn.com/blogs/elemental-alchemy/elemental-magic-organic-approach-visual-effects-animation-goes-university-pe

(That's me at the end, presenting the boards for my final effect, and me in the middle of the group shot, giving bunny ears to another student.) I learned a ton from the workshop, and am still so excited that Erinn and Julie managed to make this happen after we attended the preview in Ottawa.

I'm currently working on animating the effect I chose for the final, as a part of a piece for thesis. I promise to show you more when I can.

Expect a LOT more in the next few weeks. I have tons of work and pictures from all across India to share! And of course my usual postings as the semester commences...

Wish me luck in my quest for a summer internship... Finishing up my applications in the coming weeks!

First Pass Animatic

This might be too complex to view on this small viewer... we'll see. First pass at animatic, which of course yielded a whole bunch of new changes to do!

Caught! Animation

Still in progress... but this is my third/most recent animation. :)

This was a character design assignment based on a sound clip. There's a lot more I want to add/fix... but I think it's a good start! I will post some sketches of the character design in process later, as well.

Preview Animation... WIP

So this is just a work in progress... still a lot more to do!

This animation is the beginning of a longer portion. Just started the walk cycle but I need to fix a frame towards the end of each cycle. Otherwise... I hope you like it!

Please note that this is only my first attempt at animation... so try to wait till it's completely finished (and I fix the frame!) before judging :-P
